Site Location

The allotment site occupies a little over 2 acres (8750 m2) of land on the eastern side of Tideswell off Church Lane. The lane connects the village with the neighbouring community of Litton.

It is one of two allotment sites in the village the other being at Meadow Lane

Site Conditions

The land is owned by Derbyshire Dales District Council and is divided up into 20 allotments some of which are subdivided into smaller plots.

At approximately 1000 feet above sea level, growing is not for the faint hearted but the views are great! The land is on a gentle (for round here!) west facing slope and fairly exposed though various hedges, walls, trees and site structures create shelter for at least some of the plots.

Soil conditions are very

good - rich, medium loam

to between 12 and  18

inches (300 - 450mm)

and few stones.

Absolutely ideal for

creeping buttercup and

twitch.

The site benefits from a

permanent water supply

and annual deliveries of

farmyard manure and a

skip courtesy of well

connected members.

Plot Rents and Applications

Rents are £20 per standard allotment per year and £10 per year for a half plot and “other” sizes.

No plots are vacant at present but there is a reasonable turnover, particularly of half sized plots, and those wishing to apply shouldn’t be discouraged by the relatively short waiting list.  Please check the contact details if you wish to have your name added to the list
